Something I’ve always been interested in and that’s inspired my art is cars. How cars are an amalgamation of design, history, engineering, and innovation. Many of my pieces pay homage to these different aspects. My pieces take in pieces of my life that make me inspired to pursue art. Whether it’s a street from a city I grew up in or my childhood dream car, they’re things that inspired me to put pen to paper. Looking up in New York City, as a child and seeing the seemingly infinitely tall skyscraper, Or visiting my grandparents in Seoul and, looking down an alley and seeing the humble shops that were the roots of the city. These are the things that drive me to create, having my own experience and personality rooted into these pieces.

For the piece “Supercharged Brain”, I used a supercharger that goes on an engine, a very mechanical object, and wanted to oppose it with a head and more natural growths out of the engine. I wanted a piece that showed my love for cars and the engineering that goes into them. For another piece, “Looking Up”, I wanted to draw a piece that showed the beauty of where I was born, opting for black and white to put more emphasis on contrast and the lines of the buildings.
